Why do so many multi-writer films stink out loud?

Why do so many multi-writer films stink out loud?

Because writing is solitary. It’s a vision thing. You can’t listen to other people while you’re talking. You can’t explore your vision while others are trying to make you see their vision.

Putting a group of writers in a room is like putting a half dozen cats in a box. Someones going to get f*cked, someones going to get scratched and someones going to wind up curled up in a ball in the corner.

  1. Totally agree. Used to play in a band where (when we weren’t playing covers) the song-writing was shared amongst four people. Everyone wanted to “have a go”. Even if you’ve got a Lennon to your McCartney it becomes a battle of ego and direction.

Ignoring pop-factory churn, writing is so personal. One guy wanted to write about the love of his life, I had lyrics of betrayal and mistrust. No wonder we stuck mainly to the covers. Let someone else go through the pain.
